We were in Waterloo Ontario and we were helping out a customer who had a mouse problem. He’s tried other pest control companies, traps, and poison and it seems that his problem isn’t going away. Not only that, but the people who lived in the home prior to him had the same problem but couldn’t figure out how the mice were getting into the home. Over the past few years, the mouse problem hasn’t gone away and is only getting bigger. Thankfully he’s called us and we know the better way to control mice.
Another indicator that the mice were hanging around this spot and not only travelling was all the mouse droppings that were surrounding the entry point as well. When you see a lot of droppings in one particular area, it usually indicates an entry point close by.
Again, if you watch the video below, you’ll see where we found green coloured mouse feces. In this particular case the droppings have turned into the same colour as the rat poison that was used by the previous pest control company. When this happens it means the mice have become immune to the rat poison and the end result is obvious; the mouse problem is not going to go away. Maybe a few of them die here and there but when it comes to poison, 9 out of ten times, they’ll become immune to it.
There’s also another drawback to using poison, and that’s the problem of having to deal with the dead mice that are living in your walls. How do you get them out? What about the smell? Any of these issues have to be addressed by tearing down parts of your wall and taking more money out of your wallet when indeed, a simple eviction and prevention strategy would have worked just fine and lasted for many years.
The answer is the same as above – a resounding no! Mouse traps are a temporary fix and as with rat poison, they leave dead mice in your walls or attic. Not only that, but once a mouse gets used to seeing other mice killed by traps, they tend to avoid them. These are more reasons why a humane eviction strategy will always be in order and ends up being the most cost effective method.
Watch the video to get a better idea of what I’m talking about
Once mice get into your home and are left unchecked for any prolonged period of time, they’ll start to chew wires, travel through the basement, ruin insulation and enter your living space (that’s where the food is). This is a very clear reason why choosing a professional rat control company is important and ensuring the job is done humanely.
