When wild animals like squirrels are removed from a home, they’ve usually caused damage to a roof. This is where professional attic repair comes in handy.

In this case, I was called out to investigate the re-entry of a family of squirrels in an attic.

What happened in this particular case was that the owner had already paid over $600 on two wildlife removal companies to come out and attempt to secure a particular area of his roof.

In the end, the squirrel was able to re-enter into the attic, do more damage to the previous work and basically waste the home owner’s time and money. So what the home-owner did was eventually call us because the wildlife removal company he previously hired wasn’t able to replace the roof vent. He wanted a company that could do removal and roof work at the same time – and that’s us!

So our job for this call was to replace the roof vent and pull out 4 dead baby squirrels that were trapped in the roof. The babies were obviously left there because the other company wasn’t aware that it’s baby season and pretty much simply left the baby squirrels behind. This work was not an example of humane animal control.

Not only is that not humane and against the law, but it’s a clear sign that they knew nothing about wildlife removal whatsoever. They simply installed screening and a one way door and left the babies to die.

How We Would Have Handled This Situation

For us, this is a simple fix. We would have boxed-screened the area off, installed the 1-way door, went into the interior of the home, into the attic and pulled out the babies, position the babies on the roof line so the mother can have access to them, and given the home-owner a 5 year guarantee on her roof.

The moral of the story is pay now or pay later. Recently I posted an article explaining how some wildlife removal companies can cause more damage than they solve in the hopes that customers will understand that paying for an accredited wildlife control company to inspect and secure their home is better than having to pay again and again in the future.

If your home isn’t secured the right way, you risk wild animals re-entering your home and like in this case, causing baby animals to die prematurely.

Don’t be fooled by fly-by-night wildlife removal companies – call the experts that can guarantee your home for up to 10 years!
