We at All Wildlife Removal Inc. are just as sensitive as you when it comes to humane animal control and wildlife rescue. Our goal is to always protect and secure our customer’s homes or property and to ensure all wildlife remains safe from injury, and has the opportunity to escape and relocate safely.
But is wildlife animal control important really that important? Isn’t it OK if we just let the raccoons or squirrels live in our attic, for the winter? I’d love to say yes, but the truth is that there is a danger – a danger related to health issues and of course, the damage to your home.
Controlling the spread of disease by controlling wildlife
There’s quite a few diseases and sicknesses, associated with and that can be caught by interacting with a sick or afflicted animal. For instance there’s the real threat of acquiring rabies from skunks, bats, raccoons and even opossums. This is definitely the main reason animal control is important.
There is no cure for rabies and virtually 100% of the time rabies is fatal. And it’s simple – if you are bitten by a rabid animal you’ve contracted the disease. Period. We’re not trying to sound morbid but it has to be said.
Is it really worth the risk of contracting or of letting your family contract a fatal disease in order to let wild animals be warm? It’s not and I can assure you the released animal will find another warmer place for the winter, but it won’t be your home.
Reducing property damage due to wildlife habitation of your home
When it comes to wildlife and other small animals living in your home, it’s never a win/win situation. Either they’re dangerous from a health and disease perspective or they’re damaging your home. We’ve seen all the kinds of damage a wild animal can do to a home or property and it’s never pretty.
If you’re harbouring wildlife on your premises, you can eventually expect to see the following kinds of damage:
- your electrical systems
- cable and telephone wire damage
- the ventilation system
- general property damage (holes, fences, gardens, waste containers)
- structural damage
- leaks
- wall-panel damage
- ceiling and roof damage
- screen and window damage
- damage to the chimney, under sheds and decks
The list goes on. And not only can an animal like a raccoon or a squirrel damage your home in the ways listed above, they can also create more holes – big or small – that will help future wildlife or rodents to get in. This is where a thorough inspection and complete wildlife control over both your home and its immediate environment become necessary.
With the information above it’s pretty clear that wildlife and animal control is quite a necessary service. It would be nice to let the little critters have their way for a few months during the winter but in the end, it’s just not worth the health of your family and the safety of your home.
